Pahalgam: A devastating terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir, on Tuesday has left at least 26 people dead and another 20 injured, according to reports. The assault, which targeted tourists in one of the region’s most popular resort areas, has left the nation in shock and grief.
Gunfire was reported in the meadows above the main resort area, according to local authorities. The remote location, surrounded by dense forests and accessible only by foot or horseback, prompted an immediate response from security forces who rushed to the site.

In response to the attack, both Delhi and Mumbai have been placed on high alert. Delhi Police has been instructed to monitor tourist spots and other key locations closely to prevent any further incidents.

- Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is currently on a two-day official visit to Saudi Arabia, held a telephonic conversation with Union Home Minister Amit Shah soon after news of the attack broke. The PM directed the Home Minister to take all necessary steps and personally assess the ground situation by visiting the site.
