Pak High Commission official arrested for possession of defence documents

Pakistan High Commission official was detained Thursday by Delhi police in a case of espionage.

The staffer found in possession of highly classified defence documents.

The man held for espionage is one 35-year-old Mohammed Akhtar. The Intelligence Bureau had reportedly tailed him for a week.

Police have sent the report on the high commission staffer to the external affairs ministry.

Crime branch officials have also briefed the Union home minister and Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor.

Pakistan’s High Commissioner Abdul Basit has been summoned by the External Affairs Home Ministry.
