India’s stellar performance at the ongoing Paris Paralympics continued as para sprinter Preethi Pal clinched a bronze medal in the Women’s T35 100m race on Friday. Preethi’s remarkable run saw her clock 14.21 seconds, setting a new personal best and securing her place on the podium.

China’s Xia Zhou took the gold with a season-best time of 13.58 seconds, while her compatriot Qianqian Guo claimed silver, also achieving a personal best of 13.74 seconds.
Preethi’s success in Paris is a continuation of her impressive form, following her double bronze medal haul in the 100m and 200m events at the 2024 World Para Athletics Championship.
Earlier in the day, India’s Paralympic campaign was further bolstered by shooter Avani Lekhara, who secured the gold medal in the women’s 10m air rifle final. Fellow Indian shooter Mona Agarwal added to the medal tally with a bronze in the same event.
India has sent its largest-ever Paralympics contingent, with 84 athletes competing across 12 sports. India’s participation in Paris marks a significant step forward from its historic success at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, where the nation secured a record-breaking 19 medals, including five golds.
