Pema Khandu Sworn In As Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister For Third Consecutive Term

Itanagar: Pema Khandu, a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh for a third consecutive term on Thursday. The swearing-in ceremony took place at the DK State Convention Centre in Itanagar and was attended by several prominent figures, including Union Ministers Amit Shah, JP Nadda, Kiren Rijiju, and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Khandu, 44, first assumed the role of Chief Minister in 2016. His re-election as the leader of the BJP Legislature Party in Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday paved the way for his third term as Chief Minister. The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Lieutenant General KT Parnaik (retd.), officially invited Khandu to form the government following his election.

The BJP secured a strong mandate in the recent elections, winning 46 out of 60 seats in the Arunachal Pradesh assembly. Notably, the BJP had already won ten seats unopposed before the elections were held simultaneously with the Lok Sabha elections.

In his address after the ceremony, Khandu expressed gratitude to the people of Arunachal Pradesh for their continued support and trust in his leadership. He also outlined his vision for the state, emphasizing development, infrastructure improvement, and social welfare.

“We are committed to transforming Arunachal Pradesh into a model state,” Khandu said. “Our government will work tirelessly to ensure the well-being and prosperity of our people.”

Union Minister Amit Shah lauded Khandu’s leadership and expressed confidence in the newly formed government’s ability to deliver on its promises. “Pema Khandu has demonstrated exceptional leadership over the past years, and I am confident that under his guidance, Arunachal Pradesh will continue to achieve new heights of progress and development,” Shah remarked.

Khandu’s third term is expected to focus on furthering economic growth, enhancing connectivity, and fostering regional stability. The BJP’s significant victory in the state assembly underscores the party’s strong foothold in the northeastern region and its commitment to addressing the unique challenges faced by the state.

The ceremony concluded with a pledge from the newly sworn-in Chief Minister to prioritize inclusive growth and development, ensuring that all sections of society benefit from the government’s initiatives.
