Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that an ‘India Chair on Artificial Intelligence’ will be established at a university in Slovakia, marking a major step in technology cooperation between the two countries.
The announcement came during PM Modi’s visit to Slovakia, the first-ever visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the European nation. During the visit, India and Slovakia elevated their ties to a Comprehensive Partnership following delegation-level discussions.
A Memorandum of Understanding on digital technology was also signed to strengthen collaboration in digital public infrastructure and explore new opportunities in the technology sector.
Speaking during a joint press statement with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, PM Modi said, “Technology is an important pillar of our future partnership. The MoU signed today on digital technology will open new avenues of cooperation in digital public infrastructure.”
Highlighting the new initiative, he added, “I am pleased that an India Chair on the subject of AI is being established at a university in Slovakia.”
PM Modi also stressed that artificial intelligence should be developed responsibly and serve as a tool for the progress and welfare of humanity.
