New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is celebrating his 73rd birthday on Sunday, marking the occasion with several significant inaugurations. He officially opened the India International Convention and Expo Centre (IICC), named ‘YashoBhoomi,’ located in Dwarka. In addition to this, he inaugurated the extension of the Delhi Airport Metro Express line, connecting Dwarka Sector 21 to a new metro station, ‘YashoBhoomi Dwarka Sector 25.’ The new metro extension began passenger operations on the same day.
The YashoBhoomi centre, sprawling over an area of more than 70,000 square meters, boasts convention rooms, a main auditorium, and a grand ballroom capable of accommodating over 10,000 delegates.
Earlier, Prime Minister Modi took a ride on the Delhi Metro, interacting with passengers who enthusiastically wished him a happy birthday and even took selfies. This addition to the Airport Express Line will extend its total length from New Delhi to Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector-25 to 24.9 kilometers, according to theDMRC.

Furthermore, the Delhi Metro has increased the operational speed of trains on the Airport Express Line from 90 to 120 km/hr, reducing travel time. The entire journey from New Delhi to YashoBhoomi Dwarka Sector 25 now takes approximately 21 minutes.
To facilitate these inaugurations, the Delhi Traffic Police implemented various vehicular restrictions in West Delhi, Dwarka, and Gurugram. Affected areas included NH-48, Punjabi Bagh, and UER-II, Peeragarhi, Meera Bagh Road areas. Commuters were advised to avoid UER-II (NH-48 to Normal Dham Nala) due to restrictions in this area. While Dhulsiras Chowk, Dwarka Sector 23 remained open, travel to and from the airport was affected due to these measures.
