New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Haryana, Chandigarh and Punjab on July 17 to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for development projects worth around Rs 26,800 crore. During the visit, he will also flag off India’s first hydrogen-powered train between Jind and Sonipat.
The hydrogen-powered train, designed, engineered and integrated in India using indigenous technology, marks a major step towards clean and sustainable railway transportation.
Powered by hydrogen fuel cell technology, it converts hydrogen into electricity and produces only water vapour as a by-product, resulting in zero carbon emissions during operation. The 10-coach train is powered by a 3,200 HP propulsion system, making it one of the world’s most powerful hydrogen-powered passenger trainsets.
In Haryana, the Prime Minister will unveil projects worth around Rs 14,700 crore, including National Highway projects worth over Rs 12,470 crore. These include the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway (Packages 1 to 5), the Ambala-Kala Amb Highway, the Jind-Gohana Greenfield Highway, the foundation stone of the Hansi-Barwala Highway Project, and the Elevated Railway Track at Kurukshetra.
He will also dedicate Pandit Neki Ram Sharma Government Medical College in Bhiwani and Maharishi Chyawan Medical College and Rao Tula Ram Hospital in Narnaul, besides laying the foundation stone for the Sikh Museum at Kurukshetra.
In Chandigarh, PM Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for projects worth over Rs 6,600 crore, including the Advanced Mother and Child Centre, the Advanced Neurosciences Centre, and a 150-bed Critical Care Block at PGIMER.
He will also inaugurate educational and road infrastructure projects, including the IT City-Kurali Greenfield Highway and lay the foundation stone for the Zirakpur Greenfield Bypass.
In Jalandhar, the Prime Minister will unveil projects worth over Rs 5,470 crore, including the inauguration of 75 redeveloped railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, the Daulatpur Chowk-Kartoli rail line, and flag off the Kartoli-Ambala and Amritsar (Chheharta)-Varanasi train services.
He will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for National Highway projects, including Package-6 of the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway and the Southern Ludhiana Bypass.
