President Droupadi Murmu Begins Three-Nation Europe Visit

New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu departed on Sunday for official visits to Moldova, North Macedonia, and Romania to strengthen bilateral cooperation in trade, technology, culture, and other key sectors.

The first leg of the tour begins in Moldova on Monday, marking the first-ever visit by an Indian President to the country. During the visit, President Murmu will hold delegation-level talks with President Maia Sandu, meet Parliament President Igor Grosu, interact with the Moldova-India Parliamentary Friendship Group, address a Business Forum, and meet the Indian community.

“India and Moldova enjoy warm and friendly relations. This visit would mark significant and historical milestone and elevate bilateral ties to a broad-based partnership.”

She will then travel to North Macedonia on July 21-22 for another first-ever visit by an Indian President, followed by Romania from July 23-25, the first such visit in more than three decades.

“The three-nation visit reflects India’s growing engagement with central and eastern Europe, and reaffirms our commitment to strengthening our partnerships with the countries in the region.”
