Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Wayanad, Kerala on August 10 (Saturday), according to the sources. The region recently suffered severe devastation from a landslide, which has resulted in the tragic loss of 413 lives, with 152 individuals still missing as of Wednesday.
PM Modi will travel on a special flight that will land in Kannur. From there, he will take a helicopter to conduct an aerial survey of the affected areas. He will also visit several relief camps housing over 10,000 individuals.
Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan are expected to join PM Modi upon his arrival in Kannur.
On July 30, the landslides struck the hilly areas of Meppadi in Wayanad district following persistent rainfall. Two massive landslides hit Wayanad’s Chooralmala and Mundakkai causing significant loss of lives and property in the region.
The magnitude of the disaster has left the area in a state of calamity. The ongoing rescue and relief efforts have now entered their 10th day. The death toll is being revised daily as search teams continue their relentless efforts to find and support survivors.
