The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has announced that its PSLV-C62 mission will lift off on January 12, 2026, at 10:17 am IST from the First Launch Pad at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC), Sriharikota.
Confirming the schedule in a post on X on Tuesday, ISRO said: “The Launch of PSLV-C62 Mission is scheduled on 12 January 2026 at 10:17 hrs IST from First Launch Pad (FLP), SDSC SHAR, Sriharikota.”
In a separate post, the space agency added that members of the public will be able to witness the launch in person from the Launch View Gallery at SDSC SHAR, subject to online registration.
The upcoming mission follows ISRO’s successful launch on December 24, when it deployed the BlueBird Block-2 communication satellite for US-based company AST SpaceMobile. That mission lifted off from Sriharikota at 8:55 am IST and was declared a success after the satellite was precisely injected into orbit.
The BlueBird Block-2 spacecraft, designed to deliver high-speed cellular broadband directly to smartphones across the globe, marked a significant milestone for ISRO. It was the heaviest payload ever placed into Low Earth Orbit by the LVM3 rocket.
ISRO had earlier noted that the LVM3-M6/BlueBird Block-2 mission was a dedicated commercial launch using the LVM3 launch vehicle, representing the sixth operational flight of LVM3. The mission deployed what is described as the largest commercial communications satellite in Low Earth Orbit, and the heaviest payload launched by LVM3 from Indian soil.
The LVM3, developed by ISRO, is a three-stage heavy-lift launch vehicle featuring two solid strap-on motors (S200), a liquid core stage (L110) and a cryogenic upper stage (C25). The rocket stands 43.5 metres tall, has a lift-off mass of 640 tonnes, and can carry up to 4,200 kg to Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO).
With the PSLV-C62 mission scheduled next, ISRO is set to begin 2026 with another major launch from Sriharikota.
