Mumbai: The Bombay High Court on Tuesday granted bail to the teen accused in the Pune Porsche crash case. The high court ordered the release of the minor from an observation home, directing that his custody be transferred to his paternal aunt.
The court emphasised that, despite the gravity of the crime, the teen must be treated as any child in conflict with the law, in accordance with the aims and objectives of the Juvenile Justice Act.
Earlier on Friday, the Pune district court granted bail Vishal Agarwal the father of the teenager accused. Agarwal was granted bail in the primary case where he was booked under Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015.
On June 15, a paternal aunt of the minor accused in the car crash case moved the Bombay High Court, claiming that the teenager’s detention was “illegal” and sought his immediate release.
Two IT professionals, who were travelling on a bike died on the night of May 19 after a Porsche car allegedly driven by the minor accused ploughed into them.
