The accused, Sharanjit Singh and Aman Kumar, are believed to be close associates of Goldy Dhillon, a Canada-based member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Police intercepted them at Ghaghar Bridge on the Ambala–Dera Bassi highway, where the duo opened fire in an attempt to escape. Officers returned fire, injuring both men before successfully apprehending them.
According to Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav, the arrested individuals were allegedly involved in a recent shootout in Rajpura and had been assigned by Dhillon to target a businessman in Punjab.
Police recovered two .32 calibre pistols and 10 live cartridges from the accused. Both injured men are currently under medical supervision and will be produced before court once declared fit.
