New Delhi: Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Saturday intensified his attack on the Modi government over the alleged NEET-UG paper leak, demanding the immediate dismissal of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan or that Prime Minister Narendra Modi take personal responsibility.
In a post on X, Gandhi said that 22 lakh NEET aspirants had been betrayed, adding that their two years of hard work had gone to waste. He alleged that the question paper was circulated on WhatsApp two days before the exam and accused the government of remaining silent on the issue. “Modi ji, sack Dharmendra Pradhan ji now,” he said, urging either his removal or accountability from the Prime Minister.
The NEET-UG exam, conducted on May 3 for medical admissions, was cancelled following irregularities, triggering nationwide protests, with a re-test scheduled for June 21. Education Minister Pradhan has announced that the exam will be computer-based from next year and assured zero tolerance for irregularities.
Gandhi alleged a nexus between the RSS, BJP, and university officials, claiming it had damaged the education system and influenced vice chancellor appointments based on ideology rather than merit. He further claimed that paper leaks have occurred 80 times in the country, affecting the future of nearly two crore youths.
Reiterating his demand, Gandhi said those responsible should be arrested and jailed, while Pradhan must be sacked immediately.
