New Delhi: Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Saturday sought answers from Union Home Minister Amit Shah over allegations of misconduct by Delhi Police personnel during a protest at Jantar Mantar.
In a post on X, Rahul Gandhi said Delhi Police comes under the Union Ministry of Home Affairs and questioned why an FIR had not been registered despite hundreds of journalists protesting for hours over an allegation by a woman journalist that a police officer behaved inappropriately with her.

He alleged that hundreds of people were detained at Jantar Mantar, while women protesters faced misconduct and journalists were allegedly dragged and had their cameras snatched.
Rahul also cited previous allegations of inappropriate conduct by police personnel toward women and questioned what a government that fears registering a woman’s complaint was protecting.
“Delhi Police comes under the Ministry of Home Affairs. Amit Shah ji, where are you? You have to answer for this,” he said.
The All India Students’ Association (AISA) also alleged that male police personnel manhandled women protesters, journalists and lawyers.
It claimed several women complained of being groped and accused some officers of abusing protesters and failing to follow proper crowd-handling protocols.
The allegations have intensified political criticism over the handling of protests at Jantar Mantar and remain allegations pending official inquiry or corroborating evidence.
