Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, will visit the United States from September 8 to 10. During this brief trip, he will attend several meetings in Washington DC and Dallas and an event at the University of Texas.
Sam Pitroda, the head of the Indian Overseas Congress, highlighted that this will be Gandhi’s first visit to the US since assuming his role as Leader of Opposition in June. “Since Rahul Gandhi has become the leader of Opposition, I, as chairman of the Indian Overseas Congress, which has a presence in 32 countries, (have) been bombarded with requests from the Indian diaspora, diplomats, academicians, businesspersons, leaders, international media and many others, for interactions with him,” Pitroda said in a statement.
Rahul Gandhi’s itinerary includes a stop in Dallas on September 8, where he will participate in various activities, including meetings with University of Texas students, academic institutions, and local community members. “In Dallas, we will have interactions with the University of Texas, (with) students, academic institutions and community people. We will have a very large community gathering. We will meet some technocrats, and then we will have dinner with leaders from the Dallas area,” Pitroda elaborated.
On September 9 and 10, Rahul Gandhi will head to Washington DC, where he is scheduled to engage with think tanks, the National Press Club, and other influential groups. “There are a lot of events planned with a variety of people because we find that people also have a lot of interest in the states we run with a Congress government,” Pitroda noted. “We look forward to a very successful visit,” he concluded.
