A tragic incident unfolded in Rajasthan on Tuesday evening when a private bus caught fire near the Thaiyat area on the Jodhpur Highway, leaving at least 10 people feared dead and over 14 others critically injured.

The accident occurred about 20 kilometers from Jaisalmer, sending shockwaves across the region. Eyewitnesses reported that the fire spread rapidly, trapping several passengers inside the bus before help could arrive. Locals and police personnel rushed to the scene and began rescue operations, pulling out survivors amid thick smoke and flames.
The injured victims were immediately shifted to Jodhpur Medical College, where they are undergoing treatment. The district administration launched swift relief and rescue efforts, supported by fire and medical teams.
Expressing deep sorrow over the tragedy, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma cancelled all his official engagements and left for the accident site. He directed officials to provide the best possible medical assistance to the injured and ensure relief for the affected families.

Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari also expressed condolences, calling the incident “deeply unfortunate.”
Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire, which remains unknown. A detailed probe has been ordered to determine whether a technical fault or negligence led to the devastating blaze.
