New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh chaired the third meeting of the Informal Empowered Group of Ministers (IGoM) to assess the ongoing situation in West Asia and its impact on India.
The meeting focused on steps to ensure uninterrupted supply of essential commodities and safeguard Indian citizens amid rising regional tensions. Singh highlighted that the government is maintaining adequate availability of fuel, fertilisers, and other critical supplies while closely monitoring developments.
Officials also reviewed ongoing measures and discussed further actions to minimise any adverse effects of the conflict. The minister emphasised the importance of continuous monitoring and coordinated response to evolving geopolitical challenges.
Separately, Singh noted progress in the upcoming Census 2027 exercise, stating that the first phase involving housing listing has begun. He underlined the role of digital data collection and urged citizens to actively participate in the self-enumeration process.
The government, he said, remains committed to ensuring stability, preparedness, and public safety in the face of external uncertainties.
