Sensex Crashes Over 900 Points, Nifty 50 Falls Below 24,750

On Tuesday, May 27, Indian stock market benchmarks, the Sensex and Nifty 50, experienced sharp declines in intraday trading, halting two sessions of strong gains. The Sensex, which opened at 82,038.20 compared to its previous close of 82,176.45, plummeted over 900 points, or 1.23%, to hit an intraday low of 81,169. The Nifty 50, starting at 24,956.65 against its prior close of 25,001.15, fell 1.24% to an intraday low of 24,692.15. In contrast, mid and small-cap indices showed resilience, recording only marginal losses.

By 11:30 AM IST, the Sensex was down 839 points, or 1.02%, at 81,337, while the Nifty 50 traded 242 points, or 0.97%, lower at 24,759. The downturn reflects market volatility, with investors reacting to global economic cues and regional tensions.
