On Friday, bomb threats were sent via email to at least 16 schools in Delhi, prompting a coordinated response from the fire department, police, and bomb detection teams.
The emails instructed schools to “reply back” in order to confirm the sender’s demands. Affected schools included Delhi Public School in East of Kailash, Salwan Public School in Mayur Vihar, and Bhatnagar International School in Paschim Vihar.
Following the threats, school authorities advised parents not to send their children to school.
After a thorough investigation, Delhi Police declared the threats to be hoaxes, as no suspicious items were found. This was the second instance in a week that Delhi schools received bomb threats.
Earlier, over 40 schools, including Delhi Public School in RK Puram and GD Goenka Public School in Paschim Vihar, also received similar hoax emails. These emails, sent on Sunday night, claimed bombs had been placed on campuses and demanded $30,000 to prevent explosions.
Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal criticized the threats, calling them “extremely serious and worrying” as they could negatively impact children’s mental health and education. He expressed concern about the consequences on students’ studies if such incidents continue.
