Special cleanliness drive going on across WB municipalities

Kolkata, Aug 29 (PTI) Across all wards of 125municipal corporation and municipalities of the state, theWest Bengal government today started a week-long specialcleanliness drive. During this campaign, 87,000 additional workers havebeen deployed for cleaning of roads, drains, water bodies,regular lifting of waste and garbage from roads, markets,hospitals and major places of the town, scientific managementof solid waste by way of using around 200 compactors,officials said. Various cleanliness activities are being undertaken ineach ward by involving councillors, health functionaries,self-help groups, ICDS workers, conservancy workers, schools,colleges, clubs, market committee members and variousgovernment organisations, etc. In all the 125 municipalities intensive awarenesscampaigns are being conducted to spread health awareness onvector borne diseases.
