Patna: A firing incident outside popular educator Khan Sir’s coaching institute in the Musallahpur Haat area on Tuesday triggered student protests on Wednesday, prompting heavy security deployment.
A security guard was injured in the incident and is undergoing treatment. No casualties were reported.
Police said they rushed to the spot after receiving information and have begun a detailed investigation, including examination of CCTV footage and statements from witnesses.
SP Kartikeya K Sharma said the guard’s statement and accounts of local residents are being recorded, while Central SP Diksha stated that police have not yet found concrete proof of firing and are verifying CCTV evidence.
The incident is suspected to be linked to rivalry between coaching institutes operating in the educational hub. Khan Sir alleged that individuals from a nearby coaching centre were involved, claiming his staff had earlier received threats, including warnings to “blow up” the institute.
He also said the guard identified the accused, though later clarified that he was repeating information given amid chaos.
A viral video shows Khan Sir blaming a rival institute, citing threats and alleged harassment over his low-fee model and student success. He also mentioned stone pelting and vandalism, with CCTV footage handed over to police for verification.
