New Delhi: In a significant ruling, the Supreme Court today dismissed a petition seeking the postponement of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2024, which is scheduled to be held on August 11.
A three-judge bench, led by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, heard the matter and decided against delaying the examination. The petitioners had argued that several NEET PG aspirants had been assigned exam centers in locations that were highly inconvenient to reach, and therefore, they sought the postponement of the exam to address these logistical challenges.
Despite the concerns raised by the petitioners, the Supreme Court chose not to interfere with the scheduled date, leaving the exam to proceed as planned on August 11.
Earlier, the NEET PG 2024 exam was scheduled for June 23, but it was postponed by the Union Health Ministry due to alleged irregularities in other competitive exams. The current plea aimed to secure additional time for candidates to manage the logistical difficulties imposed by the last-minute announcement of exam centers.
