The accused in the alleged religious conversion and workplace harassment case at a Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) unit in Nashik, Nida Khan, has remained untraceable for over a week, with police facing difficulty locating her amid conflicting statements by her husband.
Khan, who was earlier posted at the Nashik unit, had reportedly been transferred to TCS offices in Mumbai’s Malad and Hiranandani areas two months ago. After her name surfaced in the case, she was suspended and is believed to have gone into hiding.
During questioning Friday, her husband, Moin Naveed Iqbal Khan, initially told police she had left their home on April 14 and was staying with a relative. However, when officers reached the location, the house was locked and both Khan and the relative’s phones were switched off.
He later changed his statement, claiming Khan’s aunt, identified as Noorie Sheikh, had taken her to Nashik earlier in the week. He has since said he is unaware of her current whereabouts.
The case emerged after a woman employee accused colleague Danish Sheikh of entering into a relationship with her on the false promise of marriage in 2022, despite already being married. According to the complaint, Khan, who is Sheikh’s sister, allegedly made derogatory remarks about the complainant’s religion and pressured her to convert.
Investigators have also alleged that Khan, along with another accused, Tausif Akhtar, concealed Sheikh’s marital status from the complainant.
As the probe progressed, seven more women came forward with allegations of mental and sexual harassment by senior employees, claiming their complaints were ignored by the HR department. The incidents are reported to have occurred between February 2022 and March 2026.
Police have so far arrested seven employees, including six men and one woman, while efforts continue to trace Khan and other accused linked to the case.
