Srinagar: A terrorist was neutralized in an exchange of gunfire with security forces in the Zabarwan forest area of Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, early Sunday, officials said.
Kashmir police reported that the joint operation, launched with security forces based on specific intelligence of terrorist presence, escalated to a gunfight. “A joint police and security forces operation was launched in the Zabarwan forest area of #Srinagar based on specific intelligence about the presence of #terrorists. An exchange of fire ensued during the operation,” police said on X.
This development follows a similar operation on Saturday evening in Sopore, Baramulla district, where another terrorist was killed by security forces. Earlier in the month, three terrorists, including wanted Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Usman Lashkari, were killed in anti-militancy operations in Kashmir on Nov. 2, with four security personnel sustaining injuries.
Operations remain ongoing as security forces continue to secure the region amidst heightened efforts to counter terrorism.
