The Indian Armed Forces on Sunday confirmed the elimination of over 100 terrorists, including some of Pakistan’s most-wanted operatives during Operation Sindoor, a high-impact military strike targeting nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
Addressing a press briefing, Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai revealed that among those neutralized were key masterminds behind major attacks on India, including the 1999 Indian Airlines flight IC-814 hijacking and the 2019 Pulwama suicide bombing that killed 40 CRPF personnel.
“High-value terrorists such as Yusuf Azhar, Abdul Malik Rauf, and Mudasir Ahmed were eliminated in the operation,” said Lt. Gen. Ghai. He added that the mission was planned with “a clear military aim to punish the perpetrators and planners of terror and to destroy their terror infrastructure.”

Lt. Gen. Ghai further noted that locations like Muridke, historically a breeding ground for extremists including 26/11 attacker Ajmal Kasab and conspirator David Headley, were among the strategic targets of the May 7 strikes.
Yusuf Azhar, a top commander of Jaish-e-Mohammed and brother-in-law of its chief Maulana Masood Azhar, was a central figure in the IC-814 hijacking that forced India to release Masood Azhar from prison. Yusuf also played a leading role in training and coordinating attacks across Jammu and Kashmir.
Abdul Malik Rauf, a senior Lashkar-e-Taiba commander and a US-designated global terrorist, was known for his deep operational involvement in cross-border attacks. Mudasir Ahmed, also affiliated with Lashkar, was responsible for operations at Markaz Taiba in Muridke—the headquarters of the terror outfit.
Operation Sindoor was launched as a direct response to the brutal Pahalgam attack, where Pakistan-based terrorists killed 26 civilians in Jammu and Kashmir. The surgical precision of the Indian strikes has sent a strong message to terror sponsors across the border.
