Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Kalyan Banerjee on Wednesday extended support to students protesting at Jantar Mantar and questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi over their demands.
He asked, “Who will you listen to, if not students?” while urging the government to address the concerns raised by the protesters.
Banerjee said students are the future of the country and their voices should be heard. He backed the ongoing protest and called for a response from the Centre on the issues affecting students.
His remarks came amid demonstrations at Jantar Mantar, where students have been raising concerns related to the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET).
The TMC leader’s statement added to the growing political support for the students’ movement, with opposition leaders demanding that the government engage with protesters and take steps to resolve their grievances.
