A mid-air security scare gripped Air India flight AI188 from Toronto to Delhi on Thursday after authorities received a warning of a possible bomb on board the aircraft. The flight, however, landed safely in the national capital, and all passengers and crew were evacuated.
Air India confirmed the alert in an official statement, noting that the crew followed all security protocols during the flight.
“A security alert was received on Air India flight AI188 during its cruise from Toronto to Delhi on 13 November. The on-board crew followed all established security drills, with passenger safety and security as the top priority. The flight landed safely in Delhi and has been parked for mandatory security checks as per protocol. All passengers and crew have disembarked safely,” an Air India spokesperson said.

The incident comes just a day after a similar situation rattled another Air India Express flight from Mumbai to Varanasi. That plane made an emergency landing in Varanasi after a bomb threat was reported mid-air. The aircraft was isolated upon landing, and searches yielded no explosives.
