The UGC-NET re-examination for English, Commerce and Sociology will be conducted without any additional fee for candidates, according to reports quoting source.
The number of qualifying candidates and subject-wise allocations will not be reduced because of the re-test, they added.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) decided to conduct the examinations afresh after receiving several complaints about errors in the three question papers. A committee constituted by the agency examined the complaints and recommended a re-test to ensure a fair and error-free examination.
The re-examination for English and Commerce will be held on September 9, while the Sociology paper will be conducted on September 10.
The NTA said it is reviewing its internal processes for setting, moderating, translating and composing question papers to prevent similar errors in the future and fix responsibility for the lapses.
The agency said the corrective measures are aimed at strengthening accountability and ensuring a fair, accurate and error-free examination system.
