New Delhi: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar spoke with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha and discussed attacks on commercial shipping in the Black Sea, including incidents that claimed the lives of Indian seafarers. During the conversation, Jaishankar strongly condemned such attacks.

The two leaders also discussed recent developments in the Ukraine conflict and ongoing peace negotiations. Jaishankar reiterated that India continues to support dialogue and diplomacy to resolve the conflict.
He also highlighted that conflicts in different parts of the world are affecting fuel, fertilizer and food security, especially for countries in the Global South.
Sybiha briefed Jaishankar on the outcome of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s recent visit to Washington and said attacks on civilian vessels threaten freedom of navigation and global food security. He reaffirmed Ukraine’s commitment to achieving lasting peace, and both ministers agreed to remain in close contact.
