Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing a rally in Nanded, Maharashtra, on Saturday, highlighted the positive transformations in Jammu and Kashmir following the revocation of Article 370, asserting that the region has witnessed a strengthening of democracy and a significant reduction in terrorism.
PM Modi sharply criticized the National Conference for its continued support of the article, stating, “We love Jammu and Kashmir, they love Article 370.”

PM Modi highlighted the benefits of the move, asking whether the national flag had been raised in Lal Chowk and whether people had celebrated Diwali there. The Prime Minister claimed that these developments were clear indicators of a thriving democracy, in stark contrast to the situation before Article 370 was revoked.
PM Modi also took a swipe at Pakistan, accusing it of lobbying internationally for the restoration of Article 370. “For the first time after 75 years of independence, Dalits got their rights. But who was troubled by this? Pakistan was the most troubled and second was Congress,” PM Modi said. He claimed that while Pakistan had failed to rally global support for the restoration of Article 370, Congress had inadvertently supported Pakistan’s stance by raising the issue in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly.
PM Modi’s remarks came in the wake of a resolution passed by the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly earlier this week, demanding the restoration of Article 370, which had been opposed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The BJP, which has 29 members in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, strongly opposed the resolution.
