Zomato, the Indian food and grocery delivery platform, revealed on Thursday that it will officially change its name to “Eternal” and introduced a new logo. This follows more than two years of using the new name internally.
The rebranded Eternal will consist of four key business areas: food delivery service Zomato, quick-commerce platform Blinkit, live events business District, and kitchen supplies unit Hyperpure.
Founder Deepinder Goyal shared in a letter to shareholders that the decision to rebrand publicly came when businesses beyond Zomato became critical to the company’s future. He emphasized, “With Blinkit, I feel we are here.”
This move represents a major shift for the company, particularly as investors were initially doubtful about Zomato’s acquisition of Blinkit in mid-2022. However, the success of quick commerce has sparked increased investor interest. Blinkit, along with Swiggy’s Instamart, has altered shopping patterns in India, pushing competitors like Reliance’s JioMart, Amazon, and Walmart’s Indian operations to launch their own quick-commerce offerings.
