Date:

A quote attributed to European Times has been doing rounds on social media which says ” World’s most stupid voters live in India, who vote for people lobbying for illegal intruders.”

“दुनिया के सबसे मूर्ख मतदाता भारत में रहते हैं, जो अवैध घुसपैठियों की पैरवी करने वाले नेताओं को वोट देते हैं- यूरोपियन टाइम्स ” – the text read.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found it to be fake.

We ran a search and found a website by the name The European Times. According to its Twitter bio, it is an “independent media agency specialised in ‘in-depth’ economic reports promoting countries’ potentials worldwide.”

We ran multiple searches using different keywords and also checked their social media pages but did not find any article on illegal migrants or Indian voters.

On putting the picture of the man through a Reverse Image Search, we found it on Reuters.

“European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker chairs the Annual Seminar of the European Commission College in Genval, Belgium August 30, 2018. Aris Oikonomou/Pool via REUTERS, ” the image description read.

The above information proves that the viral post is fake.
