Few days after Congress won the state assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, a video is making rounds on Social Media in which Congress President is seen saying that ‘waiving loan is not solution, it would be complex,’ while during the campaign he promised that if Congress would win elections they will waive off the farmers’ loan in 10 days.
Former Delhi BJP President Satish Upadhyaya tweeted the video with the caption that read:
राहुल गांधी ने मध्यप्रदेश चुनाव से पहले कहा कि 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 दिन उंगलियों पर गिनकर रख लीजिए। कांग्रेस आएगी तो हम 10 दिन में कर्ज माफ कर देंगे। दस दिन गिन तो लेने देते राहुल जी, आप तो चुनाव परिणाम के दिन ही पलट गए। अब बोल रहे हैं- कर्जमाफी सॉल्यूशन नहीं है।
(Translation: Rahul Gandhi said before the Madhya Pradesh elections, keep counting fingers in 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 days. If Congress comes, then we will forgive the debt within 10 days. Giving 10 days to count then Rahul Ji, you were reversed only on election day. Now speaking, debt forgiveness is not a solution.)

Video tweeted by Upadhyaya at the time of filing this report had already got over 5,000 views and over 1,300 retweets.
Interestingly Union Minister Smriti Irani also retweeted the same video which was uploaded by Twitter user Pawan Durani who has a verified account.
Video posted by Durani was viewed by 74,000 people.
FACT CHECK
When the video went viral and it shared by prominent people on social media, NewsMobile fact-checked the video and Congress President Rahul Gandhi’s claims.
On looking at the frame and content of the video, the above clip which went viral is from Rahul Gandhi’s press conference on December 11th, 2018 after Congress won the elections in three states.

The above viral video on right is trimmed/clipped with a sentence removed from the 24 min long press interaction.
At 21:19 counter, answering a question of farmer loan waiver, Rahul Gandhi had said:
“नहीं देखिये, मैंने अपने भाषणों में बोला की कर्ज माफ़ी एक सपोर्टिंग स्टेप है , कर्ज माफ़ी सलूशन नहीं है, सलूशन ज्यादा काम्प्लेक्स होगा “
Translation: “See, I’ve said in my speech that Loan waiver is a supporting step, loan waiver is not a solution, solution will be very complex.”
As you can watch is the above video which was uploaded on Indian National Congress’ official YouTube channel, the first sentence ‘Loan Waiver is a supporting step’ has been trimmed out of the viral video leaving it with ‘Loan Waiver is just a supporting step, it will help temporarily, but it’s not a complete solution’ which in itself is a controversial statement.
