FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the viral post, and found it to be false.
Running a Reverse Image Search of the video keyframes, the NM team identified a tweet, dated January 5, 2017, on the official handle of Akshay Kumar. The video looks like a longer version of the viral clip, and as per its description, Akshay Kumar is speaking about a Bangalore incident.
Also, conducting a Google Keyword Search to know more about the incident, our team spotted a YouTube video news report from the same day on the official channel of NDTV.
The bulletin shows Kumar’s video and informs that the actor condemned the 2017 Bangalore molestation case during the New Year celebrations. He compared the attackers to “beasts”. Given that the video was posted in 2017, it cannot be linked to the ongoing riots in Manipur.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post is false.
