Amid the Karnataka government’s decision to form a special task force to address communal tensions in districts such as Mangalore, Udupi, and Shivamogga, a circular claiming to be from a medical college in Kerala has gone viral on social media. The circular states that all major campus events must begin with a Quran recitation and that no other prayer song should be used in its place.
A Facebook user posted the viral post with the following caption:
केरल के एक मेडिकल कॉलेज का आदेश …हर फंक्शन की शुरुआत कुरान के पाठ से होगी …अब इस देश मे धर्म निरपेक्षता खतरे में नही है (English version: Order of a Medical College in Kerala… Every function will start with the recitation of Quran… Now secularism is not in danger in this country.)

FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the viral post and found the claims to be Misleading.
Closely examining the medical college circular, the NM team came to know that the document is dated as April 18, 2019. The same circular had also been shared on social media platforms in 2019.
According to a report by The Times of India, dated May 1, 2019, the circular was withdrawn on April 19, 2019, just a day after its issuance. It also noted that the medical superintendent, who issued the notice, was removed from his position due to backlash.
A report by Medical Dialogues also confirmed the same details.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that a 2019 circular by a Kerala medical college has resurfaced on social media with false narratives.
