In this context, video of a tall Ganesh idol has gone viral. Some people are lying on the ground and others come to their rescue.
The video is shared with a caption claiming that three people were electrocuted in Gujarat while carrying 23-feet tall Ganesh idol this year. The caption reads: “23 फिट ऊँची गणेश मूर्ति लाते वक्त बिजली के तार से छू कर 3 लड़के मर गए और 7 गंभीर हालत में ,गुजरात के अकलेस्वर की घटना ….संकटमोचन , विघ्नहर्ता, के सामने घटना हो गई पर भगवान आये नही बचाने …????” (English translation: “While bringing a 23-feet tall Ganesh idol, three boys died after touching an electric wire and seven were critically injured. The incident of Akleswar in Gujarat happened in front of the troubleshooter — Vighnaharta — but God did not come to save…? ???)

On searching with appropriate keywords, we found the same video was uploaded by TV9 Gujarati on August 29, 2019, with a caption that reads: “Bharuch: 2 electrocuted to death while carrying giant Ganesha idol in Ankleshwar|.”
We found that the Times of India had also reported about the incident on August 28, 2019. According to TOI report, around 15-20 youths were entering the town near Adarsh market area with the idol they had bought from Surat when the mast touched the overhead wire of Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Ltd (DGVCL). The report also shares a screenshot of the viral video.
Thus we can ascertain that the viral incident is old and not associated with this year’s Ganesh Chaturthi visarjan.
