A video of former BJP MP Smriti Irani buying chips from a roadside shop is doing the rounds on social media. Many users claim that it is from the time when Smriti Irani reached Amethi to vacate the government bungalow.
A Facebook user posted the viral post (archive link) with the following caption: जनता ने घमंड तोड़कर बंगला क्या खाली कराया स्मृति ईरानी तो कुरकुरे का ज़ायका लेने पहुंच गई! वैसे स्मृति ईरानी जी को बड़ी देर से समझ में आया कि वह अब एक आम नागरिक बन चुकी है! (English version: See below.👇)

Running a Reverse Image Search of the video keyframes, the NM team spotted a YouTube video, dated September 11, 2019, on the official channel of UP Tak. The description of the video stated that the then Union Minister for Women and Child Development and Textiles, Smriti Irani, had visited her parliamentary constituency Amethi on a two-day tour. During her visit, she bought toffees and chips from a paan shop located in front of her residence in Gauriganj.
Aaj Tak, too, reported on the incident, informing that Irani encouraged the shopkeeper to not use plastic bags in his shop.
An X post on the blue-tick verified account of Aditya Tiwari, journalist, Dainik Bhaskar, too, confirms that the video is from 2019, and has nothing to do with Irani vacating her government bungalow in Amethi.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post, claiming to show Smriti Irani buying chips from a shop in Amethi after vacating her government bungalow, is misleading.
