Amid the massive influx of devotees travelling to Maha Kumbh, the Railways has introduced several special trains to ensure a smooth journey for passengers heading to Prayagraj. Meanwhile, a video has surfaced on social media showing a TTE forcibly taking money from an elderly passenger. Despite the elderly man’s pleas, the TTE grabs the cash and puts it in his pocket. Many users claim the passenger was going to Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh.
A Facebook user posted the viral post with the following caption:

FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the viral post, and found the claims to be false.
The Google Reverse Image Search detects an X post, dated July 23, 2019, describing the incident as a case of bribery involving a TTE and an elderly farmer. This confirms that the video is not related to any passenger travelling to the Maha Kumbh. The viral clip has been on Internet since many years.
Additionally, an official statement from the divisional railway manager of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay railway division clarified that the video was reviewed, and the employee in question had claimed he was collecting money for ticket issuance, which had been completed. However, he was suspended pending a detailed investigation.
Media reports from July 2019, including those from Amar Ujala, have also identified the railway employee as Vinay Singh, a TTE posted in the East Central Railway Mughalsarai division of Chandauli district, Uttar Pradesh. Reports confirmed that after the video went viral, the divisional railway manager, Pankaj Saxena, suspended the employee and initiated an inquiry into the matter.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral video, claiming to show TTE forcibly taking money from an elderly passenger travelling to Kumbh, is fake.
