A post claiming the ex-defence minister of Ukraine, Oleksiy Reznikov, was spotted partying on a yacht in Europe just a few days after resigning from his post, is doing the rounds on social media. Many users have shared the photo criticising Reznikov for celebrating after his resignation, while the war is still going on.

Running a Reverse Image Search of the viral picture, the NM team spotted a news article, titled: Резников Алексей Юрьевич: досье, биография, компромат, фото (English translation: Reznikov Alexey Yurievich: dossier, biography, incriminating evidence, photo) published on Hyser — a Russian media outlet site.
The article gives a brief biography of the then-defence minister. The image in the article matches with the viral image indicating that it might be old.
Reznikov’s personal Facebook handle, dated February 14, 2020, carries the same image while announcing his engagement to his wife. Given that the Ukraine-Russia war started in February 2022 and Reznikov resigned from his position recently (in 2023), the image cannot be a recent one.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that 2020 image of ex-defence minister of Ukraine goes viral with false claims.
