Running the viral video keyframes through Reverse Image Search and Russian search engine Yandex, the NM team found that the viral video had been featured on a Russian website Life, dated July 5, 2021.
According to a report by Life.ru, the woman in the video was assaulted by her relatives in Krasnodar, Russia, after attempting to elope with her boyfriend. The report mentioned that she had fallen in love with a Ukrainian boy and was planning to run away to marry him before being caught.
The report further adds that only the girl’s friends, who had received the disturbing footage, stood up for her. They shared the horrific incident on social media, refuting allegations that her lover was her cousin. It was claimed that her cousin had assaulted her, accusing her of stealing family money, a charge the victim denied. Her friends had hoped that law enforcement would step in and address the situation.
Thus, it is clear that an old video from Russia has gone viral falsely claiming that a Hindu girl is being beaten up by a Muslim boyfriend in UK.
