Conducting a Reverse Image Search of the viral video keyframes, the NM team found a media report by The News Minute, featuring stills from the same viral video, dated February 20, 2022.
According to the reports, on February 19, Bengaluru witnessed a massive protest demanding the suspension of a Karnataka district judge who opposed placing BR Ambedkar’s portrait alongside Mahatma Gandhi’s on Republic Day in Raichur. Organised by the Karnataka Dalit Sangharsha, the rally drew thousands of participants who gathered at the Anand Rao Circle flyover and marched toward Vidhana Soudha. Demonstrators waved blue flags, carried placards featuring Ambedkar’s image, and raised slogans seeking justice. In an uncommon gesture, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai met the protesters at Freedom Park, accepted their memorandum, and assured them their demands would be conveyed to the appropriate authorities.
Additionally, related reports were found in The Hindu and The Times of India, providing further context.
Through a subsequent search, we found a Facebook post by Dalitha Samraksha Samithi Lion’s Voice-Karnataka, dated February 24, 2022, which featured multiple videos, including the viral clip with a caption: “On 19th Feb at Bangalore rally by the Ambedkarites.”
The same video was also found on the YouTube channels of Ambedkar Jai Bheem Youth Padagal and Asianet, both dated February 20, 2022. This further confirms that the viral video is unrelated to the recent controversy surrounding Amit Shah’s remarks about Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. Instead, it pertains to an older incident from Raichur, Bengaluru, in 2022.
Thus, it is confirmed that the viral video is not connected to the recent dispute over Amit Shah’s remarks about Dr. B.R. Ambedkar but is an old incident from Raichur, Bengaluru, in 2022.
