A recently circulated video purportedly shows Abbas Ansari, son of Mukhtar Ansari, making offensive statements and threatening government officials. The video is widely shared with claims that it was recorded after the results of the 2024 General elections.
In the 30-second video clip, Abbas Ansari can be heard saying, “I’ve made it clear to Akhilesh Yadav that there won’t be any transfers or postings for the next six months. Whoever is currently in their position will remain there. Only after we’ve settled our issues will any transfer certificates be approved.”

NewsMobile fact-checked the claim, and found it to be false.
Conducting a Reverse Image Search, the NM team located the viral video on the official X handle @ANINewsUP, dated March 4, 2022, with a caption: “#WATCH | I’ve told SP chief Akhilesh Yadav that no transfers or postings will happen for 6 months as ‘hisab kitab’ will happen with them first and only then their transfer certificates will be stamped: Abbas Ansari, SP alliance candidate from Mau seat, Uttar Pradesh (03.03.2022)”

Next, we also found the same video on ANI’s YouTube channel, dated March 4, 2022.
We came across a tweet from Mau Police, dated March 4, 2022, mentioning the registration of a case against Abbas Ansari under sections 171F and 506 of the Indian Penal Code concerning the viral video.

Multiple reports in The Times of India, Jansatta and India Today, dated March 4, 2022 are carrying the videos and stills from the same incident.
According to the TOI report, ‘A first information report (FIR) has been lodged against Abbas Ansari, jailed mafia don Mukhtar Ansari’s son and the Samajwadi Party and Suheldeo Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) candidate from Mau, for threatening officials from a public meeting in Uttar Pradesh’s Pahadpur’.
We also found that the video has been resurfacing time and again with misleading claims. Posts can be seen here.
Hence, it is confirmed that the viral clip featuring Abbas Ansari dates back to 2022, and NOT related to the recent 2024 Lok Sabha Elections.
