In this context, a video is widely circulating on social media showing a mob taking a dip in a swimming pool, purportedly depicting scenes from inside the Bangladesh PM’s residence.

FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the video in question, and found it to be false.
On closely scrutinising the video, the NM team noticed a BBC watermark and text in the first eight seconds of the video, which reads: “Sri Lanka Crisis…. Protesters storm President Rajapaksa’s Residence.”
Searching further with keywords like ‘Sri Lanka’, ‘President’, and ‘Protesters’ , our team found a BBC report, dated July 9, 2022, featuring the exact first half of the video in question. The same video was also covered by The Independent, Sky News, and The Telegraph.
This video was from July 2022, when thousands of protesters stormed into President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s official residence in the capital of Sri Lanka following his resignation after months of protests over mismanagement of the country’s financial crisis.
We also traced the second half of the video (top angle) to the official YouTube channel of Reuters, dated July 10, 2022.
This footage reported the same incident, showing protesters taking a dip in the swimming pool at the residence of the Sri Lankan president. The same video was also carried by Australia’s news.com.au on its YouTube channel.
These findings confirm that the 2022 video from Sri Lanka is falsely circulated as footage of the Bangladesh PM’s residence.
