Fact Check: 2022 Video Of A Mosque From Bangladesh Goes Viral With False Communal Spin

A video showing some people wearing skull caps and putting heaps of money in a bag is going viral on Facebook, claiming that donations made by Hindus at the Sai temple in Shirdi go to Muslims.

The post reads: शिरडी सांई की झोली में डाली गई हिन्दुओं की कमाई कहाँ जा रही है खुद ही देख लो ! इसको इतना वायरल करो कि देश के एक एक हिंदू तक पहुंचे जोकि आंखे होते हुए भी अंधे बने हैं? (English translation: See for yourself where the money of the Hindus donated to Shirdi Sai is going! Make it so viral that it reaches every Hindu in the country who has become blind despite having eyes?

FACT CHECK 

NewsMobile fact-checked the post, and found it to be false.

Carefully watching the video, our team found something written on the sack. It appears to be written in Bengali language. Our team also noticed the currency visible in the video, which didn’t look like Indian currency.

Searching further, our team found that the currency seen in the viral video is from Bangladesh, indicating that the video is not from India.

Another video uploaded on Jamuna TV’s verified YouTube channel, dated October 2022, also carries similar visuals.

As per the video description, it was taken in the ‘Kishoreganj Pagla Mosque’, which is in Bangladesh.

We also found several videos from Bangladesh having a scene that matches with the viral clip.

 

Thus, it is clear that the video is not from India.
