FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim and found it to be MISLEADING.
Searching with relevant keywords on Google, NewsMobile traced the viral clip to an Instagram post shared by an account “the_phone_reviver” in September 2024. The post clearly states that the video is from the Sainj Valley floods that struck Himachal Pradesh on July 9, 2023. The Instagram account is operated by Surender Chauhan, a resident of Sainj, who had uploaded the same footage to his YouTube channel at that time.

The Instagram account also contains other posts from July 9, 2023, showing destruction in the same area.
News reports and eyewitness videos from 2023 corroborate that flash floods wreaked havoc in the Sainj Valley, leading to the destruction of over 200 shops. Several vloggers had documented the devastation at that time, sharing similar visuals.
Thus, we can conclusively say that this 2023 viral clip from HP’s Sainj Valley has gone viral falsely claiming that it is the recent flood damage in Assam.
