FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the claim and found it to be false.
Putting the video keyframes through Reverse Image Search, the NM team identified an X post, dated September 25, 2024, carrying the same video. According to the post, the visuals show an Air Algérie flight bound for Istanbul turning back an hour after take-off due to a technical glitch, which caused panic among passengers and led to chants of “Allahu Akbar’ inside the plane.

We also found an Arabic-language report, dated September 24, 2024, confirming that the video depicts panic among Air Algérie passengers after they were informed of a technical glitch during a flight to Istanbul.

Thus, we can conclusively say that the viral video showing the disturbing footage is NOT from inside Air India’s AI-171 flight but Air Algérie during a flight to Istanbul in 2024.
