Following the recent total solar eclipse across North America on April 8, 2024, a picture is being circulated on social media purporting to capture the astronomical event.
The caption with the picture reads: “Probably the best photo of total solar eclipse 2024.”

NewsMobile fact-checked the above picture, and found it to be AI-generated.
After closely observing the picture in question and comparing it with several other images from during the eclipse, the NM team noticed several abnormalities.
Putting the image through Hive Moderation — a tool that detects AI-generated content, we found that the picture in question was 100% AI-generated.
AI image detection tool ‘AI or Not’ also determined that the picture in question is mostly AI-generated.
Hence, with the above findings, it can be concluded that the picture in question is AI-generated.
