Following heavy flooding in parts of the country, a video showing a river overflowing into a city is being widely shared on social media with the claim that it is from Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.
The caption with the video in Hindi reads: “प्रयागराज में बाढ़ आने से मचा हड़कंप शहर छोड़कर भागे उम्मीदवार”
(English translation: “There was a commotion in Prayagraj due to floods, candidates fled from the city”)

FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the claim and found it to be misleading — the video is AI-generated.
We began our investigation by conducting a keyword search, which confirmed reports of heavy flooding in Prayagraj. These reports can be seen here, here and here.
However, when we extracted keyframes from the viral clip and ran them through Reverse Image Search, we found no credible media reports or official sources sharing the same visuals — raising doubts about its authenticity.
We then analysed the footage using the AI detection tool Cantilux, which indicated that the video was 79% likely to be AI-generated.
In conclusion, the viral video is artificially created and not actual footage from the recent flooding in Prayagraj.
