A graphic carrying the NDTV logo and showing a purported quote by Union Home Minister Amit Shah is circulating on social media. Many users have shared it with the claim that Shah said, “All the activists on social media, no matter which party they belong to, are surviving on our 5 kg of ration!”
A Facebook user posted the image with the caption: The treasury from which Home Minister Amit Shah, along with all ministers and chief ministers, receives their salaries comes from our taxes. You looted our tax money and converted it into ₹71,000 crore — it’s that very money that supports your family’s expenses, and yet you tell others… “five kilos of ration.” You’re scared — scared of the youth working for Tejashwi, the one you call a fugitive. Enough is enough. Stop this and step down from power.

FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the claim and found it to be False.
The NM team conducted a reverse image search and found that NDTV India’s official X (formerly Twitter) account had posted a thread on November 1, 2025, featuring several graphics of key statements made by Amit Shah during the NDTV PowerPlay program.

On comparing the viral image with NDTV’s original graphics, several discrepancies were found. The fonts used in the viral version were noticeably different, and the text appeared on a white background—unlike the authentic NDTV graphics.

Furthermore, NDTV issued a clarification on X, confirming that the viral image is fake and has been photoshopped from one of their genuine posts. In their statement, NDTV wrote:
“This post circulating on social media is an attempt to spread fake news by photoshopping a screenshot of our post from a recent event. We have flagged this, and appropriate legal action will be taken.”

Hence, it is clear that the viral graphic does not show a genuine quote by Amit Shah. The claim is false.
