After the 2024 US presidential election, a purported cover of The Economist magazine featuring US President-elect Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin against an apocalyptic backdrop, prominently displaying “Apocalypse” word, has gone viral on social media. Many users claim it is the recent issue of the magazine.

Scanning through The Economist official website meticulously, the NM team found no evidence of a cover matching with the viral image. The alleged cover, featuring Trump and Putin with the title ‘Apocalypse’ against a dramatic red backdrop, does not appear in any of the magazine’s official records.

Notably, the cover in question misses the publication date.
